The Calp map is still predominantly blue. However, with the irruption of Somos Calpe, the party of the acting mayoress Ana Sala and formerly of the Popular Party, it is worth zooming in on the map a little and see which are the areas of the town where it has made the most impact and how it has influenced the other formations.
The citizens of Calp called to vote on Sunday, May 28, have left great uncertainty as far as the next government is concerned. He Partido Popular has won the elections again as the most voted force, but it has not done everything. A pact between Sala and the left block could change the calpine panorama.
How has Calp voted?
With two electoral colleges, one for each district, the last Calp elections were divided into a total of nine sections to exercise their opinion and will at the polls. District 01, the one in the central nucleus of the town, had five sections, while 02 had four.
It was in district 01 in which the Somos Calpe candidate had more representation among the residents, winning in sections 02, 03 and 04. These are the streets to the north of the central nucleus of Calp, approximately from the second roundabout of the Spanish Army until the end of Avenida Diputación.
In the other two sections, 01 and 05, the PP won. It is the southernmost area, from Puerto de Santa María avenue to Mas Nou avenue, covering the entire old town and the streets of the center. However, the difference between one party and another in number of votes was minimal.
In the rest of the map, that of the 02 district that surrounds the nucleus with the large and scattered urbanizations of Calp, both on the coast and in the interior, the Popular Party took the cake. In these sections, the support for the popular was more noticeable than the second force, exceeding it in all sections by more than 100 votes.
Regarding the rest of the formations that obtained votes in all districts and sections, PSOE, Compromís and Defendamos Calpe, the drop in support between 2019 and 2023 is quite notable, especially in district 01. We are Calpe, apart from collect votes from the PP, it also gained a large amount of support from the left bloc, especially from the PSOE, and from the independents.
It should be noted that in these municipalities of Calp the participation was 53,87%, while in 2019 it was 47,20%, increasing up to seven points from one year to the next. However, the blank votes were slightly higher, at 0,85% (62 votes) in 2023 and 0,66% (47 votes) in 2019.
