Compromís per Pego rejects the investiture of the PSPV and will vote for its own candidate Víctor Climent

The situation between Pego's PSPV-PSOE and Compromís remains tense. After "the first and only meeting with representatives of the PSOE", Compromís per Pego has made clear its position one day before the plenary session of investiture to form the Pegolina Mayor's Office.

As the Valencianists recount, «the PSOE obtained eight council seats in the last elections, which forces it to negotiate with the rest of the parties if it wants to have a stable government throughout its term. The absolute majority is nine councillors. Despite this situation, the PSOE, in the only meeting to which it has summoned us, raised its intention to govern in a minority, that is, without including any other party in the government. In exchange for our support, we were only offered public salaries for some of our councilors and some secondary delegations without being part of the government.

From Compromís per Pego they consider this position "unacceptable and irresponsible". In this way, the Valencianistas clarify: «We are not in politics for a public salary, to improve our lives, but to improve the lives of the people of Pego. We will not allow ourselves to be bribed no matter how much money they offer us. We want to form a majority government, stable and with progressive policies, breaking the dynamic of consecutive mandates of the PSOE ruling with the right. Instead, we find a PSOE that wants to continue working for its own interests, questioning the governance of the City Council in the next 4 years.

Due to the above, Compromís has confirmed its decision not to support the candidacy of the socialist Enrique Moll. "On Saturday, June 17, we will vote for our candidate Víctor Climent, despite knowing that it is very difficult for him to be elected, since we have not formalized any investiture agreement with any other political formation," they have communicated.

Finally, Climent's team has announced that they will work "from minute zero after the investiture on Saturday the 17th to establish a stable and strong government for the Pego City Council. As the PSOE has abandoned its responsibility to guarantee governability, we are going to work to make it possible using all available instruments and options.
