Although the fire is still active, the last hour of its evolution is favorable. The improvement in weather conditions, the light rain that has fallen on the Valls de la Marina Alta, together with the drop in temperatures and the increase in humidity has caused the fire to remain and continue in a stable perimeter.
After four days, in which the fire (caused by a lightning strike) has devastated 11.700 hectares and evicted 1.500 residents, the emergency services see hope for the stability of the fire in the next few hours.
The rain reaches les Valls
At 18:00 p.m., the Alicante Firefighters Consortium indicated that the rain was once again making an appearance in the Vall d'Ebo and surrounding areas. In addition, this fact leads to a drop in temperature during the next few hours, which helps the extinction work.
A few minutes ago, at 18:30 p.m., the Fire Department confirmed that the water had made an appearance in general on the fire, except in the Fontilles area. For this reason, the aerial means withdraw from the rainy areas and wait for the evolution of both the weather and the fire.
At 19:30 p.m., the Provincial Firefighters Consortium updates the information on the rain in the affected areas and celebrates that the water also reaches Fontilles.
At around 20:00 p.m., the Orba City Council confirmed that the fire-extinguishing work was able to keep the flames at the top of the the Solana and have prevented it from spreading to the municipality and inhabited areas.
