The definitive approval of the Interior Reform Plan (PRI) of the Plans de Gata Industrial Estate by the Territorial Urban Planning Commission of Alicante marks the unblocking of a project that has been underway for more than 20 years. The City Council sent the plan and after its approval, the creation of urban land for industrial use is expected, as provided for in the Subsidiary Regulations approved in 1989. The mayor of Gata has highlighted the importance of this milestone, since never before had so much progress been made in the processing of the project since it was started in 1996.
In 2006, the Gata City Council approved the direct management of the project and, since that date, the PRI has been undergoing modifications and encountering various obstacles, since the land is affected by the N-332, the FGV line and a cattle track. . In recent times, both the municipalities of Gata and Pedreguer involved as well as the owners have held meetings with the Ministry to find a solution to these obstacles that prevented the processing of the PRI.
The new document includes modifications that are adapted to the agreements reached with the Ministry and the Ministry of Public Works so that the polygon becomes a reality as the reserve of land for a future motorway exit.
In the area there are companies established more than 40 years old, where now some of them have had to look for alternative industrial land in other regions and move their businesses with the impoverishment for the region that this entails. This step is intended to provide a solution to this problem and for the municipality to finally have industrial land.
