Aguas de Calpe has announced the start of works for the renewal of the drinking water pipeline that connects the DN-150 networks of the Spanish Army Avenue (Calpesa reservoir) and the Puerto de Santa María Avenue (Corralets reservoir), located on Almendros Street. The investment for these improvements amounts to 44.532 euros and it is estimated that the work will last approximately one month.
The objective of these works responds to the actions contemplated in the Calp Special Drought Plan for the Pre-alert Phase for drought. These improvements are expected to significantly contribute to the responsiveness of the water supply system throughout the city.
By improving the interconnection between the Corralets (10.000 m³ capacity) and Calpesa (5.000 m³ capacity) tanks, the resilience of the drinking water distribution network that serves the urban area of Calp will be strengthened. This improvement will facilitate a more efficient response to possible incidents in the networks coming from both the Orba DWTP and the Barranc Salat desalination plant.
The hydraulic analysis carried out by Aguas de Calpe to define these actions was carried out with the Go-Aigua Digital Twin tool. This technology, implemented since 2020, simulates in real time the hydraulic behavior of the drinking water supply network, which improves the effectiveness of daily operations, the performance of studies and contributes to the planning of works and the response of the system in various situations.
The use of this Digital Twin, which has a hydraulic model connected in real time to the sensorization of the network, positions Calp as one of the few supply systems in the world that uses this advanced technology, thus standing out at the forefront of innovation in this area.
