The Ondara City Council begins work to create a new parking lot on Dénia street

16 2024 April - 12: 28

This week (yesterday, Monday, April 15) the Ondara City Council has begun work to enable a temporary parking for vehicles on the street Dénia; specifically at number 61 on this street. Once the necessary actions and conditioning work have been carried out, the plot will have a capacity for 24 car spaces and 5 motorcycle spaces. The Mayor of Ondara, José Ramiro, and the Councilor for Public Maintenance and Services, Miguel Gomis, visited this morning the plot where the works have already begun.

The plot in question, with an area of 842 m2, is fenced and does not have any buildings; It borders Dénia, Alfatares and Lepanto streets, and is classified as residential urban land according to the General Plan. The work is carried out with a municipal budget (18.029 euros, VAT included) and the approximate duration will be 4 weeks. The work will consist of cleaning the land and regularizing the levels; the extension of the gravel layer and opening of access holes in the plot enclosure (opening of access to Alfatares and Lepanto streets); the elimination of part of the wall enclosing the plot to improve the visibility of parked vehicles, and the lighting of the entire parking area. This parking lot will be illuminated, signposted and with access ramps.

It is important to remember that in November 2023, the Ondara City Council approved at the Local Government Board the signing of the agreement for the transfer of use of this particular plot for the creation of a new vehicle parking lot. The Ondara City Council considers it of great interest to the municipality to have this plot, due to its location within the urban center of Ondara, and, especially, due to its proximity to the municipal Nursery School and the CEIP Sanchis Guarner, in order to be used provisionally as a public parking area. This area has a shortage of parking, and at different time zones there is a collapse of vehicles parking in double rows in school zones, which could cause some accidents. The Mayor of Ondara, José Ramiro, has also highlighted "the suitability" of this plot as a parking area, since, since it is not built, it is preferable that it be maintained as an enabled, clean, conditioned and prepared area. vehicle parking, being attached to a children's educational center.
