The Llíber PAI still does not have the favorable report on water resources from the Júcar Hydrographic Confederation

13 2024 April - 10: 24

Acció Ecologista-Agró has issued a statement this morning reporting on its latest investigations regarding the PAI Medina Llíber. On February 28, the association electronically presented a document in the management area of the Hydraulic Public Domain (DPH) of the Water Commission belonging to the Júcar Hydrographic Confederation. The request sought to access the reports that analyze the existence of sufficient water resources to cover the increase in water demand implied by the construction of 500 homes in the municipality of Llíber, as well as to verify whether the City Council has the concession title for the utilization of the resource.

A month later, the environmental association received a response from the CHJ, which noted that "in April 2023, the Llíber City Council requested a groundwater concession to supply the PAI Medina Llíber. At this time, the request is pending the report of the Hydrological Planning Office of this organization on the compatibility of this concession with the Júcar Basin Hydrological Plan. Furthermore, they added that "this body does not record a request from the Llíber City Council regarding the report established in article 25.4 of the Revised Text of the Water Law."

This response, the association assures, confirms the doubts of Acció Ecologista-Agró regarding the lack of evidence that ensures the availability of water to meet the new demands that will arise with the PAI Medina, as well as the absence of permits for its obtaining and use. The association has announced that they will continue with the necessary judicial resources to stop the excessive use of water that the Llíber City Council intends to carry out, especially at a time when the region has been declared in an emergency situation due to drought.

Likewise, they have reported that today, Saturday, April 13, they have again registered a document in the management area of the Public Hydraulic Domain (DPH) of the Water Commissioner's Office to request information on the water volumes extracted in recent years from the Well. Parcent. However, for the moment they have not received a response. Finally, AE-Agró warns that it will remain vigilant against any possible error or manipulation of these data and documents, to which they should have access having been registered as an interested party in the file.
