Last Friday, March 1, the Territorial Urban Planning Commission of Alicante approved the Partial Plan for sectors 5, 6 and 7 Oquí de Pedreguer sent by the City Council, thus unlocking a project that has been underway for more than 20 years.
The mayor of Pedreguer and Councilor for Urban Planning, Sergi Ferrús Peris, has highlighted that never before has this far been achieved in the processing of the Oquins Industrial Estate project, which began in 2004 on the reserve of developable land in the Oquí sector intended for industrial use, as as provided for in the Subsidiary Standards approved in 1983.
In 2006, the Pedreguer City Council approved the direct management of the project and since then, the Partial Plan has undergone modifications and has encountered various obstacles due to the fact that the land is affected by the N-332, the old AP-7, a regional highway. of the Provincial Council and a livestock route.
In recent times, both the town councils involved in Gata and Pedreguer, as well as the owners, have held meetings with the Ministry to find a solution to the obstacles that prevented the processing of the PAI. The new document includes modifications that comply with the agreements reached with the Department and the Ministry of Public Works to make the industrial estate a reality, such as the land reserve for a future highway exit.
In the area there are companies established more than 40 years old, some of which have had to look for industrial land alternatives in other regions and relocate their businesses, which represents impoverishment for the region. This step is intended to provide a solution to this problem and for the municipality to have more industrial land, since the already established Galgues industrial estate is currently practically full.
