November 28 from 2022 - 11: 36

The Atrote Teatre group rose yesterday as the winner of the award for best show of the X National Amateur Theater Contest 'Antonio Ferrer, the postman' with the play "Don Quixote in Hell". This work was the great winner of the gala, winning five prizes.

The award for best female performance went to Laura Mora for her role as Asun in 'Don Quixote en los Infiernos' while the best male performance went to Vicente Paredes for his role as Alonso also in Don Quixote en los Infiernos.

The best direction and the prize for the best stage production also went to Atrote Teatro de Elche for Don Quixote in Hell. The finalists were Amigos el Teatro de Castellón for 'One month you, one month me' and Sáhara Teatre for 'El crédito'.

The prize for the best show is endowed with 3500 euros while the prize for the finalist companies is endowed with 2000 euros. Since the beginning of November the Calp House of Culture has hosted the representation of the three finalist plays from among the 72 companies that entered the contest: Sahara Teatre de Elche, with the play 'El crédito', Atrote Teatro de Elche, with 'Don Quixote in hell' and Friends of the Theater of Castellón with the work 'One month you, one month me'.

The contest closed yesterday after two years of absence with the awards ceremony and the representation of 'The Primitives' by the Yllana Company, winner of the Best Musical Show award at the 2019 Avignon Off Festival.

The celebration of the contest has also meant the reopening of the Auditorium, after two years of closure, once the installation works of an air renewal system have been completed, in order to be able to comply with the safety and hygiene regulations against COVID-19. XNUMX.

The contest arose in 2012 in order to pay homage to theatre, an artistic discipline that is a tradition in Calp that now goes back over a hundred years, and to the local actor who died last year Antonio Ferrer.
