In commemoration of the centenary of the birth of Vicent Andrés Estellés, an outstanding and beloved Valencian poet of the 20th century, the Els Poblets City Council has undertaken a cultural initiative in honor of his literary legacy.
Given the refusal of the government of the Generalitat Valenciana to declare the year 2024 as “Any Estellés”, the Els Poblets government team presented a motion, which was approved unanimously, urging the Generalitat to reconsider its decision and officially proclaim this year as "Any Estellés" in the town. As part of this declaration, a series of cultural events will be organized around the figure of the poet.

Under the audiovisual project «Estellés, the poet of the town», Residents of Els Poblets have participated in the initiative by reciting various verses by the poet, which have been recorded and will be shared on the City Council's social networks every fifteen days.
In addition, stickers have been created, pasted on various municipal buildings, with QR codes that identify the participants and the poems recited and that will lead to the City Council's website, where the uploaded videos will be.
Among the notable participants are Miquel Ibiza, director of the UMEP; Paco Costa, director of the Ausiàs March school; Amparo Mas, representative of the Dones Els Poblets association; Federico Calatayud, treasurer of the Els Poblets Pensioners Association; Paco Sánchez, author of the novel Vae victis; Maite Enríquez, owner of Cafetería Temptacions; and Michèle, a resident passionate about local culture. Likewise, other people involved in social movements and local associations join in.
The Els Poblets City Council wanted to thank everyone involved for their participation and is open to new initiatives that promote the cultural and literary legacy of Vicent Andrés Estellés.

To round off the Any Estellés in Els Poblets, the City Council has also arranged some panels in various municipal buildings with emblematic verses of the Valencian poet and will carry out various activities throughout the year to commemorate his figure. For now, the next event will be a poetry recital in his honor on April 26 in the municipality's multipurpose room. This event is part of the Els Poblets 2024 literary week for Sant Jordi.
