La Muixeranga de Segària, based in Beniarbeig, will perform for the second consecutive year at the Xalónia festival, which will take place on May 4 and 5. A scenario that marks the beginning of their performance season and which has become one of the most important festivities of the year for its members. Those in the maroon shirt closed the previous season with a performance at the Fira del Perelló in the Vall d'Ebo and since then they have worked hard to continue improving themselves as a team and start the new season in the best possible way.
Beyond the social and cultural commitment that it has as a group, the Muixeranga de Segària places emphasis on youth and tries to give a lot of prominence to children. Not in vain, its motto is "The key to culture, the future of the region." So much so, that last year, after the 11th edition of Xalónia, it was decided promote a muixeranguera extracurricular activity at the CEIP Serra de Bèrnia from Xaló to respond to and motivate children's concerns. Since then, around eleven boys and girls participate in this activity weekly and this weekend They will have the opportunity to live and participate in first person of the muixeranguer event in Xaló.
But neither these children nor the members of the group will be alone, since the Muixeranga de Segària will be the host, once again, of a castellera group. If last year it was the castellers of Terrassa who attended the event, this year hosts the Xiquets of Reus, one of the most important groups in Catalonia. Thus, all those who visit Xaló during the weekend will be able to delight in the diversity and plasticity offered by the figures of the Muixeranga de Segària and also with the height of the Xiquets castles in Reus.
This meeting, which will bring together around 150 human towers and towers and will bring together around 250 people in total, will take place on Saturday May 4 at 18:00 p.m. and it represents one more opportunity to continue weaving ties between the muixeranguer phenomenon, booming in recent years, and the human tower phenomenon. Additionally, on Sunday morning, there will be a open workshop for all those people who want to try and live the muixeranga experience more closely.
