More than 200 troops continue to fight tonight to control the fire in Les Valls

August 14 from 2022 - 23: 12

The area of Les Valls de la Marina Alta is being snatched by fire. By late afternoon, and almost 24 hours after it started, the fire was still out of control. As a result of the changing wind and the difficulties of access to the affected areas have complicated the extinction tasks. The flames have advanced unchecked, destroying 3.500 hectares and occupying forest areas in several municipalities in the interior of the region.

The aerial means have had to withdraw when the sunlight disappears, but 196 troops (including forest firefighters, vehicles and firefighters from the provincial consortium) remain on the ground throughout the night, suffocating the flames and putting control on the fire.

From the Vall de Gallinera City Council they point out that at the moment there is no forecast to evict La Carroja, Alpatró or Benisili.

The regional director of the Interior, Salva Almenar, has indicated that in the last coordination meeting of the day a priority strategy has been agreed: to defend the population centers of the Vall de Gallinera.

Civil Protection Deployment

Civil Protection volunteers from several towns in the region (Benissa, Gata de Gorgos, Pedreguer and Benidoleig) have also joined the extinction tasks.

Civil Protection has six vehicles in the area affected by the fire to help or assist anyone who needs it. For this you can contact 606 599 799.
