On a walk from Llíber, a new element is noticed that welcomes visitors and residents who enter Xaló. It is a large sculpture in the shape of a bunch of grapes or, as they say in the Navy, xinglot de raïm.

The work, installed since last Friday, belongs to the sculptor of Xàbia Toni Marí and, after an idea agreed between him and the Xaló City Council, it was decided that the best way to welcome those who came to the town was to show a little piece of their identity. «It is an allegory to the production of the wine so characteristic of Xaló. It is one of the first things that comes to mind when thinking about this town," the artist clarified.

According to the Xaloner mayor, Joan Miquel Garcés Font, the decoration of the roundabout was in poor condition. For this reason, through a subsidy from the Mancomunitat de la Valley of Pop, have been able to transform it with the work of Marí. «We are renewing all Xaló entrances. From Benissa, Llíber and Alcalalí, although the roundabout towards Bernia would be missing," explained Garcés.

The mayor has been able to confirm that the residents of Xaló are happy with it and has added: "We have received many good comments, they liked it."

The sculpture is about 4,5 meters high and weighs one and a half tons due to the material that Marí uses in her characteristic works, iron. The artist has taken about two months to build it, having to stick to the measures and indications regarding road infrastructure that the Diputació establishes.
