Orba starts this week the VIII edition of “La Vetladeta”

August 11 from 2022 - 14: 35

The cultural offer in the town of Orba is consolidated year after year, with a powerful program that attracts great talent and public from all over the region. One of the strongest proposals of the consistory is "La Vetladeta", the cultural program of the nights of August that includes theater, cinema, music, magic and excursions, and which is now in its 8th edition.

From August 11 to September 4, Orba's Plaça de la Pilota will host a total of 14 activities, of which there are 4 movie nights, 5 musical acts, 3 theatrical acts, a night excursion and a guided tour for promote Orbera pottery.

After 8 years, from the Department of Culture and Heritage they are "very happy and grateful for the reception that this program has had in the town" and they assure that "it is very satisfying to be able to count on such a wide cultural offer throughout the month of August”, says Guillem Marhuenda. With La Vetladeta, "we want to contribute our grain of sand because the cool summer nights are not lost and that the town continues to live, that the neighbors have an incentive to go out and that, in addition to enjoying the performances, have a space to interact and have dinner together”, he continued.

For her part, Rosanna Oliver, Councilor for Tourism, highlighted: "It is a joy to see that, every year, there are more people from all over the region who come especially to our town to enjoy the scheduled activities." All this is the result "of the daily and constant work of all the artists who keep culture alive", and that from the City Council "we try to give it the visibility that corresponds to this well-cared-for work".

The programming begins this Thursday, August 11, with the screening of the film El Subtituto, directed by Óscar Aibar and starring Ricardo Gómez. This film was shot, in large part, in Dénia, and some action scenes have been set precisely in places linked to the hierarchs of the Third Reich who sought refuge in the capital of the Navy, such as the Bremers complex at Les Rotes.

Live music

Concerts are one of the great bets of La Vetladeta. Within its programme, on Sunday, August 14 at 22:00 p.m., you will be able to enjoy an alfresco dinner with live music by Oller i Guerra, who will perform in trio format, to present their new album, and will perform a cheerful, introspective and eclectic repertoire. With jazz as a starting point, the trio is influenced by folk, classical music and songwriting, among others, to present their show full of original melodies. Jaume Guerra, born in Alcalalí, a member of the groups Obrint Pas, Zoo and Orxata Sound System, has also worked with jazz greats from the area and has led projects such as Jim War Brou and Blau Barba. Now, he joins forces with the Barcelonan pianist Víctor Oller, who after 5 years in La Haia where he had the opportunity to play with the saxophonist Ben Van Gelder, has returned to Barcelona, the city that has seen him work as a musician.

On Sunday the 21st, Clara Olóndriz from Barcelona will perform, a singer-songwriter based in the Marina Alta, who released a solo album in 2018, Bliss, and is currently part of the musical project La Llavor, a tribute to the group Aspencat.

The group Dómisol Sisters will transport us, on August 28, to the golden age of swing, three perfectly similar voices and a jazz quartet with very careful arrangements, quality and guaranteed fun. With their music and their great staging, this band manages to spread their energy and take the public back in time to the golden age of Swing, offering a fun and dynamic concert, out of the ordinary. The group was born in 2011 with the intention of recreating, with their own arrangements, the Swing music of the 30s and 40s. In 2014, the Valencian band released their first album "Get where Board!". Thanks to the great reception of their work In 2016, he released his second album "Take that Swing!". The commitment to the theater

The theatrical proposal is one of the other pillars of the program, which this year will feature a magic show, a theater night and a monologue.

On August 16, Plaça de la Pilota will be dressed in magic with the visit of illusionist Lionel Gallardo, who has an international career spanning more than 20 years and has performed in countries such as France, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands.

"Adéu Paco" will be the proposal of the Lolailo Troupe group, which will perform on August 23, a play directed by Rosa Catalán and performed by Rosa Serra, Valeria Mengual and Maria José Pedro, who is also the author of the text. The Ondarenc group, which has already performed on several occasions in Orba, the last ones at the Micro Theater Festival and as part of the "A Boqueta de Nit" program, is back on stage in the town, where they will perform a comic plot that takes place in a funeral home, but that, thanks to their carefree performances and with a lot of humor, will make all the attendees enjoy and laugh, in equal parts.

The last theatrical performance will come from the hand of comedian Oscar Tramoyeres, one of the comedians most loved and demanded by the Valencian public. Lover of comedy and with a long professional career, he comes directly from l'Horta Valenciana (Rafelbunyol) to get on the stage of Orba. With his humor of the "terrain", easy and direct, he manages to make his spectators laugh more than once. A humble and close comedian, who is very clear that life must be taken with humor.
