The workers of Bimbo El Verger have started the week with the first of the seven days of strike planned after the company showed an immobile attitude towards the negotiations with the Works Committee. Attendees have described the mobilization as an absolute success, since there has been 100% follow-up by the staff.
From the first hour, the group of workers whose turn it was to start the morning shift has settled at the entrance to the factory. "The entire staff is united," they have confirmed from the Committee, who assures that no one, for the moment, has made the attempt to go to work.
The first step of the mobilizations was taken on Saturday with the demonstration that invaded the town with the chants of rejection of the closure of the historic plant. Tomorrow, Tuesday, January 30, the second day of the strike will continue and on Wednesday there will be a new meeting between the factory workers' committee and the representatives of the multinational.
The last meeting was a complete disappointment for employees who expected greater flexibility in the closing conditions from the brand. However, they only managed to get the multinational to offer compensation of 25 days per year worked, with a maximum of 12 months, for dismissal, instead of the initial 20 days of severance pay.
