The fight against the closure of the Bimbo El Verger factory has taken shape today in a large demonstration called by the Works Committee of the workforce. The march, which began in front of the plant in the Vergerí industrial estate, paralyzed Valencia Avenue (N-332a) which serves as the entrance to the municipality for much of the morning.

Supported by families, friends, neighbors of the Marina Alta, as well as politicians and various groups, the factory employees have walked the streets of Verger to show their firm rejection of the definitive closure of the plant. On the part of CCOO and UGT they affirm that about 1.000 people attended the call, as reported by the Company Committee, which has positively valued the great support shown today, reaffirming the importance of this factory for El Verger and for the region in general, whose industrial fabric is minimal.

Javier Fillol, member of the Company Committee, has read the manifesto prepared by the employee organization on the balcony of the Verger Town Hall. «This inhumane multinational wants to take away more than 100 jobs and family stability», read the statement, emphasizing that the situation caused by this decision is one of total uncertainty for them.

Miguel Ángel Cerdá, general secretary of the Federation of Industry of the Southern Regions, has been supporting the cause. «It seems like a too drastic decision to us. We believe that they are economic interests those who have led to the decision, because the multinational does not have economic problems," he acknowledged. A fact that employees have been emphasizing since the day the news of the closure was announced.

Political representatives of Verger, Els Poblets, Ondara, Pego and Dénia They have come to support the protesters. In the past plenary session of the Verger City Council, The motion was unanimously approved. presented by the government team (Compromís and PSPV) to offer their full support to the workers. "We were clear from the beginning which side we were going to support", explained Basili Salort, mayor of Verger.

The closure is a real blow to the town, something that has been noted when seeing so many neighbors join the march and leave their homes and businesses to support the cause.

What they need is a good team of lawyers to get everything they can out of Bimbo. This is how you fight. If UGT and CCOO cannot contribute and pay for them, they should stop putting on performances like this that are useless. The truth is that they can't do anything for them but they pocket the financial contributions every month,
