Calp's PSPV-PSOE has announced its commitment to create a new housing department, if it wins the next elections. This initiative seeks to address the housing problem in the city.
According to the Socialists, the creation of this housing department is considered an essential action after decades of demand by the community. Its main mission will be to carry out exhaustive evaluations of the state of the houses in Calp, rental aid will be issued, a mediation service will be offered and a register of housing applicants will be kept. Their objective, they clarify, will also be to serve both tenants and owners, in addition to informing about legislation, rental or rehabilitation subsidies, contracts, loans, rights and obligations.
Another of the proposed measures would be to allocate a budget item of 150.000 euros in the year 2024 to provide aid to those who face difficulties in paying their rent. These aids would be aimed at families registered in Calp and who are holders of a lease in the city.
Details of the Rental Voucher proposal
In the event that the PSOE can carry it out after 28M, this aid will be to prevent non-payment of rent in those families with economic difficulties. The aid will consist of twelve monthly payments with a monthly amount that may reach up to 50% of the agreed rent.
It will be an essential requirement to apply for the Rental Bonus to be registered and to be a tenant of a house in Calp, as well as to be up to date with the rent payment at the time of the application, since it not only seeks to help the tenant, but also to guarantee the collection of rent to the owner of the house that will be the ultimate recipient of the aid.
The applicant must prove that they are the holder of a rental contract or assignment of use of the dwelling and that it constitutes their habitual and permanent residence. Rental contracts between people who are related will not be accepted.
The aid is directed especially for large families, single-parent families and for units of coexistence with a member with a disability or legally recognized functional diversity, with low income that does not exceed the economic threshold that will be established for this purpose.
For Guillermo Sendra, socialist candidate for mayor of Calp, “the Rental Bonus that the PSOE wants to implement will mean direct help for the payment of the monthly rent. It will be a fundamental support for those families who already live for rent in Calp and allocate a high percentage of their income to pay rent.
