Last week the PSOE of Calp announced that it would present a motion to eliminate from the General Urban Planning Plan (PGOU) the paragraphs that allow hotel projects of 8 o 4 stars do not compute the common and service areas. Now, the Socialists denounce that the citizen consultation promoted by the City Council to find out the opinion of the residents of Calp on this issue has been done "in a surprising and unexpected way."
Calpine socialists describe it as "express consultation without any publicity." Thus, they point out that from the PSOE they intend that the motion that they will take to the plenary session be of social relevance, however, «the city council has had a lot of discretion when it comes to publishing the opening of a citizen consultation on the matter. The document, hidden on the city council website, uses cryptic language closer to a Marx brothers film than to a legal text," they say.
The PSOE also warns that the city council recognizes in its "brief writing" of the call that there is a "serious problem of interpretation of the Urban Regulations for 15 years." In addition, they assure that it points to a "lack of control" that allows common elements and services without a maximum limit and that it speaks openly of the "distortion and reduction of the coastal environment caused by hotels" allowed with the current norm.
They also highlight that the document invites citizens to express their opinion in various ways, from showing up at municipal offices to sending opinions by email. "Rush is bad companions, the letter published by the city council does not establish the duration of the consultation nor does it relate a range of options as in other similar consultations," they add.
The Socialists, finally, declare that the consultation launched by the consistory "has been used as an excuse to ask the PSOE to withdraw the vote on that point in the next plenary session." From the Calp PSOE they assure that they do not withdraw the motion that will be discussed today in the plenary session and that, in addition, they have offered to negotiate with all the formations “to achieve the broadest possible consensus. The desire is that, if there are common areas between the different political formations, opt for this path, and otherwise, that each group portray itself before the future electorate, "they conclude.
