The Compromís per Calp formation has exploded against Ana Salas, mayor of the municipality, and exclusively accuses the city council of the delay in the construction works of the Gargasindi Special Education Center. The anger comes as a result of the declarations of the mayor assuring that the delays in the works were the responsibility of the Consell.
According to Compromís, the city council has the money and powers to build the new center since 2019. For this reason, Ximo Perles, spokesman for the Valencian coalition, highlights that the council has already contracted and demolished the old center. "It is unheard of for a mayor, knowledgeable as she is of the file, to accuse the Generalitat about something that concerns her solely and exclusively," added Perles.
Perles accuses of the delay due to a bad political decision that led the city council to contract the demolition and subsequent construction in separate files. In this way, it ensures that the procedures and legal contracting deadlines are multiplied by two.
"This decision was promoted solely and exclusively by the local government, since the Conselleria at the time it delegates jurisdiction is limited to protecting the file," says Perles. Thus, he begged the mayor to stop "demagogic propaganda" and work for the public interest.
Finally, the spokesperson for Compromís added: “Regarding the construction of the second IES, they have not even drawn up the technical specifications to be able to put out to tender the drafting of the project. They are dedicated to rushing in public but what depends on the city council has yet to be done.
