The Culture area of the Calp City Council has published the book 'Calp, Geography, History and Heritage' by Abel Soler, a doctor in philology and history, which will be presented this afternoon in the Auditorium of the Casa de Cultura. It is the most comprehensive book on local history and geography produced to date.

The book, of which 300 copies have been published, takes a tour of Calp's history of the last 2000 years, summarizing and reviewing everything previously published on the municipality, introducing new contributions and documents and also taking into account the great transformations of contemporary Calp and heritage from the Banys de la Reina to the Bofill buildings.

According to the author, Abel Soler, the book is "an essential guide to get to know the municipality, it is structured around three parts: geography as the setting, the population, the history of the informative story and the characters of Calp, and a third part that is the heritage that ranges from the sites of La Pobla or Banys de la Reina, to the Arab castle or the buildings of Bofill. It is an informative document, a research work of many months that uses all the information prepared up to now but at the same time At the same time, it tries to fill in gaps and brings interesting news".

The book, which has 407 pages and 332 illustrations, is intended to be a starting point for future research or monographs. For its elaboration it has had the collaboration of numerous local authors and personal testimonies.

The Councilor for Culture, Pilar Cabrera, has pointed out that "from the area of Culture we were committed to leaving a legacy in this legislature of a scientific publication of a historical nature that would synthesize the way of being and living in Calp throughout the centuries. Abel Soler, with the support of all the collaborators who have participated, he has made a masterful work, due to the content and quality. I cannot be more grateful and satisfied with the result and to know that the commitment acquired has been fulfilled, being today a reality for the enjoyment of all calpines".
