Last hours of yellow alert in the Marina Alta: will the heat return or will the rain persist?

May 13 from 2023 - 09: 08

The expected rain made an appearance in the region after several months of scandalous stability. At the moment, the Marina Alta or, rather, the north coast of Alicante is on a yellow alert from the State Meteorological Agency from last midnight until 12:00 noon on Saturday.

But the sky indicates that the hours of heaviest rainfall have already passed. According to data from the Valencian Meteorological Association (AVAMET), the accumulated precipitation until 14:00 p.m. yesterday Friday was most notable in the Vall de Gallinera, with 31 l/m², and during the last morning in Les Deveses of Dénia (23 l/m²), in Ràfol d'Almúnia (15 l/m²), in Pego (10 l/m²) and in Ondara (8 l/m²).

During the next few hours the sun will be the protagonist of the rest of the day and the weekend, but temperatures will not exceed 22 °C in most towns in the region. In some inland towns, such as Castell de Castells, the rain could persist during these two days. Looking ahead to Monday and Tuesday, a slight increase in the thermometer could be registered, although without exceeding 25 °C.

It will be from the middle of the week when a change in the state of the sky is noticed again. The forecast of the State Meteorological Agency indicates that on Wednesday the rain will return in a general way to the region. Experts such as MeteoParcent warn about this prediction: «Also pay attention to next week that the models are wet. We can continue to recover lost liters with what the maps intuit. In any case, there is too much left and we will confirm.
