Three Pego students win the Extraordinary Baccalaureate Award of the Valencian Community

18 July 2022 - 12: 45

The students of the Enric Valor de Pego Institute, Roser Camarena Palmer, Joel Sendra Peris and Silvia Verduras Garcia, have received the Extraordinary High School Award from the Valencian Community. This recognition is given each year to the 30 high school students with the best academic record in the entire autonomous community.

Roser and Joel, both residents of Pego, have obtained a score of 9,8725 and 9,8500, respectively. On her side, the young Silvia, a resident of Orba, but a student at the Pegolí institute, has obtained a grade of 9,7550.

The three students say that the secret to achieving a good academic record is "consistency and good organization, not leaving things for the last day." Another fundamental piece, they review, is the teaching staff, "they have a very important job, they are in charge of teaching us and motivating us". Finally, they emphasize the importance of the support of family and friends.

Regarding the future, the three students are clear that it is linked to science. “For a long time I have been clear that I want to study Medicine, hence my involvement with the studies, in addition to being a personal challenge”, explains Silvia Verduras. As for him, Joel will begin his studies in Marine Sciences and Biotechnology in Valencia. While Roser Camarena will begin this new stage of studies studying Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences, also known as Biomedicine.

Advice for future students

For future high school students, the three students recommend "set a goal and fight to achieve it." Vegetables points out that these are two courses “in which effort is very important to get the highest possible grade since you never know what may come out in the PAU exams and how you are going to be those days. I would also tell them to fight for their dreams, a grade does not define them; We can all have good and bad moments throughout the course, with effort the objectives are achieved”. For his part, Roser recommends carrying out some extra-academic activity: "It seems silly and impossible, but it comes in handy to disconnect from the institute, because sometimes it is necessary, so as not to get saturated and lose the desire."

Roser, Joel and Silvia have followed in the footsteps of Rubén Bolta, also a Pegolino student who last year, in 2021, obtained a 13,976, the best grade in the Valencian Community. "It is no coincidence that the students of IES Enric Valor are on these lists, it is a reflection of the good work of the institute's teaching team and also of the commitment and interest in ensuring a future for the students themselves", remarks the Councilor for Education, Juanjo Arbonne.
