The Ple del Consell has today validated the order made to the public company Tragsa for logistical support in emergency actions to alleviate the damage caused by the forest fires that the Valencian Community has suffered this summer. The amount budgeted for these works was 1.059.880,29 euros.
During the months of July and August, the Valencian Community was affected by various forest fires. Due to its seriousness, the importance of the forest masses affected and the proximity to non-forest assets, the Generalitat established the Potential Severity Index at level 1 and 2 of the Special Plan Against the Risk of Forest Fires.
Of all these fires, those that occurred on August 13, 14 and 15 in the municipalities of La Vall d'Ebo, Useres and Bejís stand out, some forest fires that required a great effort to extinguish to actively defend human lives, homes and infrastructures.
As a result of these fires, in addition to the environmental impact, serious damage has been caused to infrastructure, public and private assets, as well as to crops and various agricultural holdings. For this reason, it is necessary to immediately undertake the necessary actions to achieve, as soon as possible, a return to normality in the affected municipalities.
Given that the Valencian Agency for Security and Response to Emergencies does not have sufficient human and material resources, for this purpose it is proposed that Tragsa be commissioned to carry out support for these actions with an execution period of 3 months, counting from August 30th.
