We do not learn. In the past plenary session there was a point related to the collection and treatment of waste. Calpe belongs to a consortium that is used to treat the waste that is collected. The price, what we pay for this treatment service, depends on the weighing of the garbage. Of course, the more you take, the more you pay. But how much should we pay?
The Consortium has made an estimate of the volume of waste that Calpe transfers, based on data provided by the city council. This estimate must be corrected in the future with the exact data of the weighing of our garbage. And how much garbage do we carry?
From Defendamos Calpe we insist in plenary that we must find out what is the process that determines how much garbage we generate, who controls it, if this process is audited, who is responsible or responsible, if what has to be weighed is weighed and not added other elements that increase the weighing irregularly…. We have not received any information. The PP accepted the estimate made by the consortium and paid. All with clear taxpayer money.
A point was brought to the plenary session that obliges us to pay more than 1.2 million a year because the consortium estimates that Calpe generates more than 17.000 tons a year, but the City Council does not specify if that figure is in line with reality. Tremendous.
We must be rigorous with this issue, especially when one of the largest corruption cases in the province of Alicante, the Brugal plot, affected Calpe. Of this plot there are 3 former councilors of the PP processed, that is, they will sit on the bench for having allegedly swindled the town of Calpe precisely with the weighing of the garbage. According to what they say, the garbage was weighed by eye, because the scale that had to weigh the garbage that we generated and that from which we were charged the highest cost, did not work.
We do not learn. Now, again, to avoid making the same mistake, negligence or irregularity, we have asked that you inform us well of how the weighing works. The PP did not give us any information in this regard, although finally, the mayor herself decided to annul her proposal and the decision on it was postponed.
We don't know if it was because of our objection or because there are more things we should know. The fact is that the issue of garbage in Calpe always generates a lot of mistrust.
According to the estimate made by the consortium, and from which we do not know how it was reached, if we divide the amount of garbage that we generate among the inhabitants of different nearby municipalities, in Calpe we produce more than 300kg of garbage per inhabitant per year. (See attached table). Something is happening here. And yes, many tourists come who are NOT resident population, but there are also other populations that receive tourists all the years.
In short, after having been splattered by one of the most important plots of the province, through which it was deceived with the weighing of the garbage, increasing the weighing and thus causing an excess of billing that we all pay, the PP Today you pay without knowing why you pay. Sure, the taxpayer pays it.
In addition, we have been asking for months to recalculate the rates we pay and they do not see fit to do so either. We do not know why we pay so much, nor do we know exactly why it is paid. We pay of course, not them.
