Ondara concludes the works to improve the stormwater evacuation conditions in Tossals

06 March 2024 - 15: 59

The Councilor for Infrastructure Maintenance of the Ondara City Council, Miguel Gomis, has reported that the works to improve stormwater drainage in the Tossals Partial Plan area have been completely completed, which have been carried out for 3 months, since December 2023. The works have been carried out with the aim of avoiding problems derived from the mixed stormwater and faecal network, which caused flooding problems in homes in the area.

This work has been carried out by the Alicante Provincial Council, within the subsidy for Hydraulic Supply and Sanitation Infrastructures 2022, with a budget of 98.788,11 euros (VAT included); 80% being a subsidy from the Provincial Council, and the remaining 20% from the municipal contribution. The work has been carried out in sections on Enric Valor, Botánico Cavanilles streets (at the intersection with this one) and Joan Lluís Vives (punctually), by the company Excavaciones y desmontes Pistola SL. A complete action has been carried out that will decongest the waters in case of heavy or moderate rain.

The work has consisted of the execution of a new separating stormwater network on Enric Valor street, which will collect water from Botánico Cavanilles and Joanot Martorell streets and will later collect water from Enric Valor, Peset Alexandre, Josep Grimalt Mauro and Joan Lluís Vives. The objective is to complement the existing network, which was insufficient both for drains and for the section of the pipe. The existing sanitation network also collected rainwater. The solution has been to collect rainwater on Botánico Cavanilles Street to decongest Pintor Murillo, which was the street with the most problems.

The works have included the execution of a separating stormwater network on Enric Valor Street, which also connects with an existing natural channel, decongesting the stormwater in the area both on the surface and in the network, and therefore, relieving the network. of feces in the area. To achieve this, a large linear sink has been built in a highly conflictive point, in addition to five other help sinks. The works have been located on public municipal land, both on the road and in the canalization in the green area of Tossals park.
