27 December 2022 - 12: 53

Ondara hosted, last Wednesday, December 21, the II Meeting of Feminist Students of the Marina Alta in which more than 180 young people from different HEIs in the region participated. Specifically, students from the IES of Benissa, Gata, Teulada, Xàbia, Dénia, Pedreguer and Ondara, who acted as host in this edition.

The El Prado building served as the central hub of the meeting and not only the reception was held there, but also a workshop for students on tools and actions for organization and group work and detection of needs. The workshop was energized by L'Argila, a project that works on facilitation and training with an intersectional feminist perspective.

Next, on the terrace of the bullring, Sara Gee & Ramblin' Matt offered an educational concert to the students, taking a tour of different blues songs and how these songs, sung by women, served in their time in favor of the equality and feminism. Finally, the Day ended with a fellowship meal with all the participating students, with the collaboration of La Coqueria Jordi in the Nin de Jesús Pobre.

It should be noted that the Feminist Student Body project is an initiative that is carried out in educational centers in which students and teachers participate to take actions to the center (and also to the life of the towns where they are located) in defense of the equality and against any type of discrimination.

The meeting had the collaboration of the Department of Equality and Youth of the Ondara City Council and the Department of Equality of the MASSMA (Commonwealth of Social Services of the Marina Alta).

The students have valued this type of meeting very positively and from the Department of Equality and Youth of the Ondara City Council the importance of having young people involved in these causes for the feminist transformation of educational centers and their localities has been stressed and that in addition They feel the support of the institutions.
