Manifesto in Dénia: "we pay the same taxes, we should have the same health care"

“We have been forced to go on strike due to the situation we have in our department. We are continually seeing how our colleagues go to neighboring departments to improve their employment situation and these professionals are replaced by staff who have just finished their studies and have to learn without experienced references to guide them.

We have minimal templates where we cannot reach everything and that is reflected in the care we offer our patients. We work against the current, always running, to be able to serve everyone. But that is not the quality we deserve. It has cost us a lot to reach this situation, but we can no longer continue working in these conditions.

We can only trust that the administration, our politicians, provide solutions and we have, for the good of all, a department like our neighbors in La Safor and Marina Baixa have. With adequate professional staff and decent working conditions. That's why we all pay the same taxes and we should have the same health care."

Demand to join the strike

After making the strike official these days, the Marina Salud Works Committee issued a letter to join forces among the health workers of the Marina Alta Department of Health, explaining at length the trigger for the decision:

“Eight years after the previous agreement, the Marina-Ribera Salud offered a maximum wage increase of 3,5%, without modifying the working day and without entering into other improvements, when the standard of living since the previous agreement has already risen more than one 10%.

The negotiators of the agreement have been attending meetings for years without any progress, when the Agreement should be in force from January 1, 2022, as we agreed in the Supreme Court. Another agreement that for us they are breaching.

At this point, the Committee asked you to concentrate on up to three occasions to press for the negotiation. The result was that two months later they returned to the negotiating table without any proposals. Everything seems to indicate that Ribera Salud, owner of Marina Salud since last summer, is not interested in spending anything to improve our conditions. Her interests are others...

In this context, the Works Committee gave you the floor in an Assembly in which it was decided by a large majority to go on strike. Days later, the Company Committee met again with a representative of Marina Salud at the Labor Arbitration Court in order to reach an agreement that would allow the strike to be called off. On this occasion, Marina Salud said that it would not negotiate if we did not call off the strike previously.
