Businessmen from the Marina Alta demand less bureaucracy for tourist rentals and revitalize the industry at the CEDMA 2024 awards

Yesterday at 19:30 p.m. the XVI Awards of the Cercle Empresarial de la Marina Alta (CEDMA) took place in a gala held at the Hotel Dénia Marriott La Sella, where the work of businessmen in the region is awarded. More than 250 businessmen attended the event, as well as numerous authorities and representatives of federations such as CEV, FAES, UEPAL, FEPEVAL, AEFA, Círculo de Directivos de Alicante or FOPA.

During the gala, the president of the Federation of the Marina Alta Business Circle, Benito Mestre Caudeli, gave a speech in which he took the opportunity to criticize the regulation of companies that are dedicated to tourist rentals. "We cannot allow bureaucracy to suffocate our companies, to treat us like criminals instead of as agents of development," he denounced, emphasizing that tourism is the main source of income in the area and "we must take care of it." ».

On the other hand, Mestre recognized that "we need to diversify, open ourselves to new possibilities and opportunities, to innovation, to the industry." "We must make a strong commitment to reindustrialize our region, to key sectors such as logistics, to recover the primary sector and use new technologies for all this," he indicated.

In this sense, the president of the Federation claimed that the entity has been asking for affordable industrial land for years, which would imply "a stronger industry in the region and would translate into stable employment and wealth for all."

For this reason, Mestre announced that CEDMA has promoted closer collaboration with UNED Dénia, through the experience tables. In addition, together with the administration, they have created a Dual FP and new Agreement models to carry out training in leading companies in the Marina Alta. An example of public-private collaboration, he mentioned, is the Dénia Ciutat Creativa de la Gastronomía Foundation.

On the other hand, the businessman took advantage of the presence of the Minister of Innovation, Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Nuria Montes, to thank "the predisposition, understanding and closeness" that the new regional government has had with the demands of businessmen.

Furthermore, in his speech he highlighted the capacity of adaptation and survival of the region's businessmen in the face of "challenges that seemed impossible to overcome", such as financial crises, real estate crises or the pandemic. «We have moved forward each time, we have reinvented ourselves a thousand times if necessary. We have suffered, but we have not stopped. “We have not given up,” said Mestre.

Winners of the CEDMA Awards

There were four categories of winners in the CEDMA Awards. The first, for Business Career, was for Juguetes Cayro. Regarding Sustainability and Business Ethics it went to the Twelve Beauty brand. On the other hand, the Innovation Award went to Servicolor and the Special Award for the Company went to Transportes Pineda Morell.

In addition, as a result of the collaboration with Cámara Alicante and UNED Dénia, this year a recognition was also given to the best Final Degree Project, consisting of an honorary plaque and a scholarship of 1.500 euros for the Master of their choice. The TFG chosen was “Reconversion of the exploitation of sun and beach tourism through the visual image”, by Jaume Esquerdo Ramis.

But what bureaucracy? Yes, most of them are illegal and they are allowed. There is a whole legislation that is neither respected nor applied.
