The Teulada Moraira Urban Agenda has completed the first diagnostic phase of the municipality after months of work. The purpose of the initiative is to draw a map of actions to achieve a town developed in terms of social, environmental and economic sustainability by 2030.
This first phase has consisted of preparing a diagnosis to identify weaknesses and threats, to face and overcome them, as well as strengths and opportunities, to take advantage of and develop them.
Thanks to citizen surveys, talks, neighborhood proposals, other activities, and following the guidelines of the Spanish Urban Agenda, the following 10 objectives are proposed to achieve a more sustainable municipality:
- Organize the territory and make rational use of the land, conserve it and protect it.
- Avoid urban sprawl and revitalize the existing city.
- Prevent and reduce the impacts of climate change and improve resilience.
- Make a sustainable management of resources and promote the circular economy.
- Promote proximity and sustainable mobility.
- Promote social cohesion and seek equity.
- Promote and favor the Urban Economy.
- Guarantee access to Housing.
- Lead and foster digital innovation.
- Improve intervention instruments and governance.
For this, different citizen participation days have been held to incorporate the opinion of the residents into the Urban Agenda of the municipality. Thus, two workshops were held, one in the urban area of Teulada and the other in the urban area of Moraira, with 35 participants, where they identified and prioritized problems in the city, in addition to making an initial proposal for solutions.
A survey was also published through a scope, in which 183 people participated and thanks to which different contributions have been compiled, in addition to the information collected through the web, social networks, email and the citizen forum available at the Urban Agenda website, where you can also consult all the results of the conference.
The next phase of the preparation of the Teulada Moraira Urban Agenda will consist of defining the actions to be carried out in the coming years. This phase will also be developed collaboratively with the population through the following actions:
- Online survey (until March 15) to collect possible actions that contribute to achieving the established objectives.
- Neighborhood walks (on February 11) that will consist of making itineraries through the municipality in which neighbors will contribute possible improvements.
- Itinerant office (from February 15 to March 15) so that neighbors can communicate their opinion, as well as the objectives and challenges of the Urban Agenda.

The mayor of Teulada Moraira, Raúl Llobell, has highlighted the importance of citizen participation in this innovation project. «The Urban Agenda is the first link to achieve the great purposes that we have: it is not only a road map for effective decision-making by the administration, but also a two-way communication tool to make the desired Teulada Moraira, fulfilling the objectives set by 2030”.
