The International Fair of Environmental Solutions and Ecological Transition, Ecofira, which was held from October 4 to 6 at the Valencia Fair for its nineteenth edition, wanted to discuss waste management in a circular economy environment and, to deal with this issue, wanted count on the presence of Pedreguer.
Thus, on Wednesday, October 5, a high-level institutional round table focused on the analysis of the 'door-to-door' system collection was organized, which was moderated by the General Director of Environmental Quality, Joan Piquer.
The presentations were given by Ignasi Garcia, deputy to the Provincial Council of Castelló, Elisa Giménez, councilor of Catarroja, Txema Pelàez, President of the Ribera Alta Association (ManRA), José Vicente Ferriz, President of the Mare Consortium, Josep Antoni Riera , Mayor of Meliana, and Ferran Lloret Morell, government spokesman for the Pedreguer City Council.
Lloret presented Pedreguer's 'PaP' system and its implementation process. In addition, he had the opportunity to make a positive assessment, thanks to the good work of most of the citizens, in the data and percentages of selective collection that is done in Pedreguer.
The attendees and speakers appreciated and highly valued the Pedreguer MSW collection project, which collects waste separately house by house from its inhabitants to the urban area, its adaptation and its good reception in general, achieving in a few weeks recycling levels required by European regulations.
Finally, the General Director of Environmental Quality, Joan Piquer, reaffirmed that the Pedreguer model had to be taken as an example and not make a gradual adaptation, but rather implement it directly "because the environment and the planet ask us to do so".
