The Marina Alta will say goodbye to the summer with a long yellow alert: is a cold drop waiting for us?

21 September 2022 - 11: 50

Summer comes to an end, specifically on the night of Thursday to Friday, September 23, and gives way to autumn. A season that by definition brings with it a more unstable weather due to the increase in atmospheric activity.

This year will be no different. The Climatology Laboratory of the Universitat d'Alacant announced yesterday the passage of a small cold drop from the Canary Islands that is advancing towards the south of the peninsula.

For this reason, the Marina Alta is on yellow alert from the State Meteorological Agency from today, Wednesday, September 21, at 17:00 p.m. until tomorrow, Thursday at 17:59 p.m. The warning is activated in this way by rains with accumulated precipitation of 20 mm per hour and by storms, which could bring some hail.

The so-called cold drop would leave, according to the Laboratory, some locally strong downpours and storms, from the interior of the region towards its coastline. But the predictions indicate that they would be concentrated during the early morning, so that the rest of the hours the rain could be more scattered or almost non-existent in many points.
