Following the line of the sustainability and ecology initiatives included within the 2030 Agenda, last Sunday, February 11, from the Department of Agenda 2030 of the Ondara City Council, directed by Jordi Dominguis (also CEO of SINMA, the municipal public company waste management and street cleaning), the action to clean natural spaces was promoted, framed in the commemoration of Environmental Education Day.
To commemorate this anniversary, a total of 15 people of all ages participated in an action that consisted of cleaning a natural space. In this case, the roads of Alfatares and part of the bike path until reaching Ondara. Along the way, some neighbors congratulated the participants for their bravery and success in their action. The amount of garbage collected exceeded expectations, and among the remains were not only containers, but also all types of waste such as batteries, oils or vehicle parts, among others.
From the Department of Agenda 2030, Jordi Dominguis has valued the activity as "a success" and has thanked the neighbors for their participation, who "have been an example of commitment to our town and its environment." The Department of Agenda 2030 hopes to be able to repeat the activity this year, in another part of the town.
It is worth mentioning that SINMA collaborated with the materials to carry out the cleaning (gloves, special bags, etc.), while the participants were also provided with breakfast. These sessions are part of the work program undertaken last fall by the Department of Agenda 2030 and the public company SINMA to encourage better waste management and public hygiene.
