Pego will pay tribute to Vicent Andrés Estellés, one of the most important Valencian poets and whose centenary of his birth will be celebrated in 2024. To celebrate an important anniversary, the council has decided to schedule a series of events dedicated to the figure of the author, who was born in Burjassot on September 4, 1924.
The first of the events will take place on March 21 at 19:30 p.m., coinciding with World Poetry Day. The Pego City Council, with the collaboration of the Atzaïla cultural association, will organize a poetic musical performance in which Joan Femenia and Enric Casado will participate. Event in which the Councilor for Culture, Josep Mengual, will participate, who will also present the point of interest about Vicent Andrés Estellés, which the Carmen Alemany Bay municipal library will have throughout this year. "We believe that Estellés is one of our most illustrious authors and it is vitally important to remember his figure and his wonderful work in such an important year, especially so that the little ones know his legacy, necessary to understand Valencian culture," he points out. the person in charge of Culture.
The councilor also thanked the Atzaïla association for its collaboration, "always on the side of culture, reclaiming our roots and, in this case, remembering a figure as important to Valencian society as Estellés was, is and will be." . For all these reasons, the councilor has indicated that work is being done to set other events on the poet's figure on the calendar during this year of the centenary of his birth.
