Elvira Cambrils presents her new novel 'Argila i calç' in Ondara

18 March 2024 - 13: 04

Last Saturday, March 16, the Ondara House of Culture hosted the presentation of the latest novel by Pego writer Elvira Cambrils, who last year received the prestigious Enric Valor Prize for novels in Valencian with the work Argila and calç, published by the Bromera publishing house and with an interesting protagonism of the Marina Alta, since the action of the story takes place in the Vall de Laguar, as explained in the introduction of the event by Jovi Lozano-Seser, a writer from Huelva and winner of the same award in the previous edition. In this sense, the author recognized "the great value of Cambrils' new work when it comes to literaturizing the region and dignifying our territory through letters."

Feminism, the ancestral invocation of the Mediterranean or the social commitment of literature were also the great themes that Lozano-Seser highlighted in the literature of Elvira Cambrils. For her part, the author of Pego addressed in her intervention the central elements of a novel that synthesizes issues already addressed in her previous works from the same perspective of vindication and visibility of aspects such as the inequality between the north and the south or the growing perception of ageism as an obstacle to more genuine fictions.

"In my works I always seek the redemption of its protagonists, of its main elements, since this is a gift that only authors have to portray a world that at least belongs to us in fiction," the author explained in the final stretch of a literary presentation coordinated by the Ocell Cultural Association.
