18 Soles from the Repsol Guide has received the Marina Alta this year. But his good gastronomic work does not stop there. The entity has incorporated several restaurants in the region as the great novelties in its list of recommendations. A fact that contributes to putting the region on the map of one of the attractions of the moment: gastronomy.
The greatest merit, that of the Suns, has come from the hand of ten different restaurants located throughout the region. We are talking about Quique Dacosta Restaurant, BonAmb Restaurant, Beat Restaurant, Casa Pepa, Peix i Brases, Tula, Casa Bernardi, Audrey's, El Baret de Miquel and La Perla de Jávea. Among all of them, they have harvested the eighteen suns that will shine during 2023 and that will be a great claim for their tables, and for the towns where they are located.
Although this fact has not been a coincidence. The small region has been working on its good work in the kitchen for some time. Five years ago, in 2018, it already had seven Meritorious Soles establishments and nine recommendations. Something that encouraged the latter to improve themselves until they reached their privileged place among the best winners today.
The region with the most Suns
In the Valencian Community, 58 restaurants have received one, two or three Repsol 2023 Suns. The province of Alacant, for its part, is the one that accumulates the most Suns, with 28 of the best establishments. Above Valencia, the regional capital, which has 25. Not bad.
But if there is a territory that stands out above all, it is, without a doubt, the Marina Alta. A privileged area due to its geography, climate, culture and tradition. And, with so many awards, also for its gastronomy. Of the three restaurants in the province with 3 Repsol Suns, two are located here. Among the seven with 2 Suns, four have their home in it and another four now have 1 Sun.
Only one other region can match its prize pool with it. This is l'Alacantí, which has nine restaurants with Sol, although all are located in the capital of the province.
The news
But, in this edition, it could be said that the hit has been hit with the mentioned recommendations of the Guide. This distinction is awarded to those restaurants "where the warmth is contagious and cooking with heart is felt in dishes and tapas and the loyalty of the clientele and the sincere product presage a pleasant experience", defines the entity.
Five years ago the recommendations in the Marina Alta were nine. Currently this number has increased to 16, almost double. And the curious thing is that we can not only find them in the big towns, the coastal and more tourist ones. Rather, those restaurants suggested and in the spotlight of the renowned Guide are located in more remote municipalities such as Benidoleig (Mare), Vall de Laguar (El Nou Cavall Verd), Sagra (Un cuiner a l'escoleta de Sagra) or the Vall de Gallinera (Miró Cuina).
This is how the precious region has become a place of pilgrimage, desirable for the most knowledgeable palates, but also for the most "enjoyable". A charming land, cradle of the best gastronomy and demand for a superior culinary experience.
