Last Friday, April 14, the students of the Institut Vacarisses paid an emotional tribute to their former teacher, Carlos Morelló, from Dianense, closely linked to sport in the Marina Alta and who passed away just over a year ago at the age of 40 years. In memory of the one who was their teacher, they decided from the center to organize the 1st Mile Carlos Morelló, an activity linked to the subject of Physical Education through which each year (from 1st to 4th of ESO and 1st and 2nd of Bachiller) had to cover, as its name indicates, one mile, 1.609 meters.
The tour passed through the surroundings of the institute, with the assistance of dozens of families who wanted to encourage all the participants. The races began at 10:45 a.m. and ended at 14:00 p.m. with the awards ceremony. Carlos's son was in charge of giving the medals to the winners.
The sports event was full of emotional details, highlighting the discovery of the plaque in tribute to Carlos Morelló in the center's gym, an event attended by the honoree's wife and son. From now on, and forever, the name of Carlos Morelló presides over the high school gym where he taught until his death.
