The fiction short film Barxeres, by Col·lectiu Mirades, was presented at the Human Fest, the Valencia International Film and Human Rights Festival. Now, the festival organization has announced to the Marina Alta production company that the short will be part of the selection of works selected to be exhibited in the centers that the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation (AECID) has throughout the world.

This agreement, consolidated for the second consecutive year between Human Fest and the AECID, represents a unique opportunity to project the work in 23 different venues, including cultural centers in Latin America, Equatorial Guinea and Spanish Embassies in Miami and several nations in America and Europe.

The screening will take place in person with an estimate of up to 350 spectators or, alternatively, through an online screening for a maximum of 175 pre-registered viewings. In the previous edition, the 2022 selection was exhibited in seven of the 23 centers, including locations such as Malabo and Bata in Equatorial Guinea, Bolivia, El Salvador, Honduras, Peru and Chile.

The venues contemplated for the projection cycle in 2024 are: Argentina (with three venues in Buenos Aires, Córdoba and Rosario), Honduras, Paraguay, Bolivia, Peru, Uruguay, Mexico, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Chile, Dominican Republic, Guinea Equatorial (in Bata and Malabo), Guatemala, Nicaragua, Panama, Miami and the Spanish embassies in Cuba, Venezuela, Colombia and Ecuador.

'Barxeres'

With Barxeres, a little piece of the history of the Marina Alta now has the opportunity to undertake a long journey around the world. The 20-minute short film, directed by José Gayà and produced by Pau Soler, shows the life of a family of artisans and farmers in a rural Valencian town during the 40s. The audiovisual featured the work of technicians and actors and actresses from the region, among them, Paco Bertomeu, Maite Sendra, Agustí Martínez, Teresa Ballester, Judit Isnardo, Iris Costa.

The short film, which can be viewed in full above, was already published openly last May so it could be viewed online.
