The Vice President and Minister for Equality and Inclusive Policies, Aitana Mas, has visited the municipality of Gata de Gorgos, where she has met with the Mayor, Josep Signes, to find out about the status of the construction project for a day center and Specialized Center for Care for the Elderly (CEAM).
Mas explained that this action, whose works are delegated to the City Council itself with the aim of accelerating the project, is part of the Convivint Plan for Social Infrastructures for the province of Alicante, and will involve an investment of 3,9 million euros.
Specifically, he pointed out that currently "the project is in the drafting phase, and, although there are still some procedures left, we hope that at the beginning of next summer the works in Gata de Gorgos can begin, so that this infrastructure becomes a reality. soon as possible".
On the other hand, the vice president Aitana Mas has also visited the Pre-employment Adaptation and Social Insertion Workshop (TAPIS) for people with functional diversity located in this municipality, "one of the centers that we are promoting from the Ministry of Equality and Policies Inclusive through dependency benefits”.
Specifically, the Ministry has allocated an investment of 27.000 euros that has allowed this space to be improved. Mas has highlighted the work carried out in these centers to achieve the integration of people with functional diversity in society, making them much more autonomous and independent”.
Pla Covivint Alicante
The Convivint Plan for Social Services Infrastructures 2021-2025 contemplates in the province of Alicante the implementation of 69 actions in different social infrastructures, which will mean the creation of 1.700 places in public centers for the most vulnerable groups, such as the elderly, with functional diversity or users of services related to mental health.
By sectors, 19 actions and an investment of 67,5 million euros are planned for the elderly, which will make it possible to double public residences from 11 to 22, and multiply daytime resources by five as a commitment to personal autonomy.
For people with functional diversity, 8 actions and an investment of 22,5 million euros will be carried out to reach 16 infrastructures between residences and a day center.
In the mental health sector, there will be 7 actions to be carried out with an investment of 18,3 million euros, including the creation of 7 new CEEMs and CRIS, in addition to guaranteeing resources in all social services departments.
Regarding the childhood sector, an investment of 6,5 million euros is planned, with a clear commitment to daytime resources in all departments, especially in Alicante, which will have 40% of them. In addition, the new model of family meeting points will be implemented in the province. In total, 11 actions will be carried out in the area of childhood and adolescence.
Finally, in the area of sexist violence, two actions and one million euros of investment will be carried out to increase the network of Women's Centers with new points, one of them in Elche, and the expansion of the own residential network in collaboration with the Ministry of Housing.
