At 19:15 p.m. on Saturday, relatives, friends, supporters, militants, neighbors and colleagues from other towns in the Marina Alta began to arrive at the Dolors Piera Park in Benissa to support Compromís Benissa in its first campaign act.
Alberto Robles, local secretary, was the one who welcomed all the attendees and introduced Cecilia Berenguer, poet and feminist from Benissa, who would be the presenter of the event.
The first speech was given by Carles Mulet, a Compromís senator in Madrid. The force of his words highlighted the importance of municipal politics, as well as the great work done in the Senate in the last eight years. Among other aspects, he highlighted the good management carried out by Mari Carme Ronda in the opposition, thanks to the fact that she has been the only one who has supervised the PP Government Team.
Next, among the ringing of bells, Cecilia Berenguer gave way to the presentation of the people who make up the list of Compromís Benissa to reach the mayor's office. Each one revealed some of the most necessary proposals to improve the quality of life of the residents, such as the creation of a day center, the improvement of public lighting, the use of clean energy, the construction of social housing or the pedestrianization of the Rei Jaume I square.
At the end, Mari Carme Ronda was introduced, accompanied by the rest of the candidacy on stage. Ronda highlighted the work carried out during these four years in the opposition, with actions such as the stoppage of the hotel project and the nine luxury homes when Compromís presented a motion to stop the licenses and protect the Patmore area, as well as demonstrating against the wind turbine project in Mallà Verda, with the aim of preserving the territory from this type of mega-construction. Likewise, Ronda emphasized the importance of approving the new General Urban Planning Plan, because "Benissa's objectives must be to protect our land, our landscape and our last green lung on the coast."
After loud applause, attendees were able to enjoy live music by the Oxigen group, as well as a snack.
