Benissa creates the first Basic Health Council of the Department of Dénia to improve the quality of life of the population

The basic health zone of Benissa has created the first Basic Health Council of the Department of Health of Dénia. It is an intersectoral body whose objective is to improve the well-being and quality of life of the population, through the active participation of citizens.

The Basic Health Council will be chaired by a health professional, representing the Coordination of the Benissa Health Center; while the vice presidency will be held by a representative of the local associations and the secretary will be held by a professional from the basic health zone team.

In addition, up to a total of 14 members will also participate in the council, representing Primary Care professionals, social-health institutions, local pharmacies, the Dénia Public Health Center, neighborhood associations, associations whose objectives include prevention or health promotion, local union representatives, school councils and town councils of the basic health area (Benissa, Llíber, Alcalalí, Xaló and Senija).

The Basic Health Council will be in charge of analyzing the state of community health and identifying the health determinants in each of the municipalities that comprise it. It will also identify, prioritize and promote its own health promotion actions or those that have been successful cases in other contexts similar to Benissa.

The constitution of this council in the basic area of ​​Benissa represents an important milestone in the promotion of community health within the department, since it will allow the active participation of citizens in the identification of health needs and priorities; as well as in the design and development of strategies to improve the health and well-being of the population.
