The Ondara City Council settles in the Plaza del Convent, which houses one of the most valuable architectural complexes in the municipality. The building of the consistory is the old Convent of the Immaculate Conception which, together with the Church of Santa Ana, make up a historical space in the center of the municipality.

History

The Ondara City Council is installed in the Convent of the Immaculate Conception, which dates from the first half of the seventeenth century. The Order of Minimal Franciscans founded the convent in 1611 and they settled in the building until 1835. The construction stands out for its square plan and the cloister inside.

After the use of the convent for ecclesiastical purposes, the consistory was located there to give its own space to the municipal corporation. In fact, except for the convent's oratory, the rest of the building as a whole became part of the municipal heritage in 1850.

However, it was not until 1933 when the "City Council of Ondara requests the transfer of ownership of the building of the old convent of the Order of Minims", which until now was being used as a town hall, as can be seen in a document from the national historical archive.

Between 1991 and 1995 the building was rehabilitated in order to preserve the history of the convent as much as possible and to be able to use it safely as the town hall of the municipality.

Since the last elections held in 2019, José Ramiro Pastor is mayor of the socialist group in Ondara. His government team is made up of five councilors from the same political group and three from the Valencian group, Compromís.
