Arturo Poquet (PP Benissa): "In the next legislature Benissa will have a Day Center"

May 26 from 2023 - 08: 00

Arturo Poquet is the current mayor of the Popular Party in Benissa. Benissa 1659 was given the mayorship 4 years ago and with its 8 councilors and the CIBE councilor they have governed the consistory.

ASK. Why do you think the residents of Benissa have to vote for you to be the mayor of their municipality for the next 4 years?

ANSWER. In these four years we have undertaken many initiatives and projects that have come to light and others that are about to be completed. If in such a complex legislature we have done so much, imagine what we can do if they give us the opportunity again.

Q. How do you assess the management of your government team carried out in the last 4 years?
R. Efficient, responsible and sensible. We have taken advantage of the historic opportunity to make fundamental investments for Benissa that are already a reality today.

Let's talk a little about the proposals that have been raised in this election campaign...

P. HOUSING. What do you propose to facilitate access to housing for the youngest and people with low incomes?

R. It is important to remember that housing is not a municipal competence and that it should be the regional and state administrations that promote measures to deal with this problem that affects young people throughout our country.

We consider that there are three necessary elements for access to housing; employment, a robust economy and tax cuts. Within the scope of our competences, we work to generate opportunities and wealth creation scenarios in Benissa. This favors the employability of young people and, by extension, access to a better life.

Q. TOURISM. What tourism model do you want for Benissa?

R. We are committed to giving continuity to the tourism project that has brought 2,5 million euros to Benissa from the European Union for investments. An integrated model within the Sustainable Development Goals that projects our municipality as a healthy, calm and sustainable destination.

Q. TRANSPORTS. Do you think that Benissa is a municipality with good urban public transport?

R. Benissa has public transport adapted to the needs and demands of the population. In fact, this same month we have published the offer of three new taxi service places that will allow us to expand the public offer. During the summer period we have the Benibús, a service that we continue to improve year after year.

Q. INFRASTRUCTURES. What infrastructures do you consider to be most necessary for your municipality?

R. If I have the confidence of all Benisseras, from next May 28 we will get to work to finish infrastructures such as the athletics track, the city's interpretation center, the new town hall or the Beniver multi-sports courts. In fact, many of them are in the final phase.

Q. SOCIAL SERVICES. How do you think the Benissa Social Services should improve?

R. During these four years we have invested 1,2 million euros in building the largest social shield in our history with the aim of defending the most disadvantaged people. From now on, we must continue to strengthen. In the next legislature, Benissa will have a Day Center. That is the great project and the great battle that this government is going to wage in the field of Social Services. Logically, we are not going to put aside the ordinary management of the department to continue serving all the families in Benissa who need it.

TOWN PLANNING. How should the urban future of Benissa be? What measures do you propose in this matter?

R. In the coming years we have ahead of us the challenge of promoting the Benissa General Plan, a fundamental document for the urban development but also for the economic and social development of Benissa. We are moving towards a more sustainable and responsible model that recovers public spaces for people.

Q. What does Benissa need the most? What is the most important measure of their program that they will carry out if they govern?

R. We do not believe in 'star' measures, but if we have to highlight a project above all others, we would be talking about the Day Centre.
