“The councilor is wanted”: Marina Alta classes begin without 150 teachers

14 September 2023 - 14: 18

Chaos. This is how Compromís has defined Dénia the beginning of the school year in the Valencian Community. Chaos both due to the allocation of teaching positions and the questionable last-minute decisions that have caused the entire organization of the centers to collapse. And the formation is clear about who to point out as the culprit: the Minister of Education, José Antonio Rovira, whose decisions, according to the Valencian supporters, have caused the schools in the Marina Alta to open with 150 empty teaching positions.

The problems that thousands of teachers have faced throughout the month of August have been well known. In publication after publication, target lists for teachers have contained errors and have had to be modified over several weeks. As a consequence, the rotating teachers have not known their destination until a few days before having to appear at the center, without knowing where to live or how to get to their workplace during this course. However, the latest list has not been free of problems either, which has caused the Marina Alta to lack between 150 or 200 teachers, according to Compromís deputy Gerard Fullana.

Fullana, along with several representatives of Compromís in the region, carried out an action this Thursday in front of the Dénia town hall to criticize "the most chaotic start to the school year in memory." They have presented themselves with signs that read the sign Wanted accompanied by a photo of the Minister of Education, José Antonio Rovira. This is because, according to the training, Rovira has not yet given explanations in Les Corts about what happened.

They blame him for what happened along with the general director hired this summer to, among other things, control the awards, and who shortly after taking office went on vacation for two weeks in the middle of the teacher crisis. "And while the teachers who have worked were not able to enjoy their vacations," deputy Ximo Perles also criticized.

"It has been a total disaster," said Rafa Carrió, spokesperson for Compromís per Dénia (in whose centers there are still between 30 and 40 teaching positions to be filled). He has also been especially harsh with Educació's controversial decision to increase the teaching schedule by three more hours a week shortly after the start of the course. This, says Carrió, has disrupted the prepared work of the centers, harming teachers, students and families alike.

For all these reasons, Compromís has mobilized today in different regions to demand explanations and "for Minister Rovira to show his face."

Looking for someone from Compromis who knows how to make the O with a joint.

  2. Fernando says:

Haha, until they have been fired they have not protested about anything. In any case, the public education system in Spain is regrettable.

  3. Martina says:

    Caramba!! How soon they protest!!!
Could it be that the chaos comes from how the outgoing government of Ximo Puig left the Ministry of Education???
    A little please…

    • It says:

Of course the chaos comes from their Botanic, like so many things, and on top of that they complain because someone doesn't show their face, if those so-called Valencians and their partners at the City Council are experts in that!
      A circus…

  4. Paula says:

    More work and less circus

    • Pillar says:

I totally agree Paula. They only do this to cover the file and "pose." I always say it, politicians ALL insult our intelligence. They treat us like sheep
