The new work forum between Valencian municipalities, the Xarxa de Municipis per l'Economia Social (XMES), is made up of more than twenty municipalities from all over the Valencian territory whose objective is to promote the social economy among the municipalities. Among them is Pedreguer, who thus joins the initiative promoted by the Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces and the General Directorate of Entrepreneurship and Cooperatives of the Ministry of Sustainable Economy, Productive Sectors, Commerce and Labor.
The start-up of the new network took place on March 22 at the Valencia City Council, the entity that presides over the network through its mayor, Joan Ribó. This network counts, in its first constitution, with the presence of the representatives of the municipalities that will form it, including Pedreguer, represented by its mayor, Sergi Ferrús Peris.
The leader was at the act of constitution, together with representatives of some of the members. The Xarxa begins by establishing itself with the presidency of the Valencia City Council and the vice-presidencies of Viver and Petrer. In addition, the councils of Alicante and Castellón, Titaigües, Alcublas, Benassal, Crevillent, Vistabella del Maestrat, Pobla de Vallbona, Beniarrés, Catarroja, Font de la Figuera, Pego, Benlloch, Betxí will also form part of the Xarxa, together with Pedreguer. , Ademús, Otos, Lluxent and Aiora.
In addition, Víctor Meseguer, commissioner of the Spanish Government for the social economy, has participated in the presentation of the Xarxa, who has highlighted the importance of valuing "the social economy from municipalism". "The creation of this network is very important. Its creation allows local Valencian institutions to be fully aligned with the industrial strategy of the state and Europe", Meseguer has indicated.
For his part, the mayor of Valencia and president of the Xarxa, Joan Ribó, has emphasized the fact that "the promotion of the social economy through tools such as the Xarxa de Municipis per l'Economia Social is very important, since that all municipalities have to forge alliances to face the common challenges they face".
The vice president of the FVMP, Diego Gómez, has stressed that this Xarxa gives the possibility of making it clear that "local entities become key agents in contributing to the social economy".
Finally, the General Director of Entrepreneurship and Cooperatives, Teresa García, has congratulated herself on the creation of the XMES. "The agents of the social economy have a great relationship with the town halls, since both institutions maintain a close relationship with society. Therefore, the social economy must necessarily be linked to the municipalities", explained García.
This new network will aim to become an instrument for towns and cities to promote the social economy and change the production model in the Valencian territory. Thus, among the principles of the network will be to make it clear that the economy is a tool to make it possible for the center of political action to be the satisfaction of people's needs, an economy that is respectful of the environment and socially just. All the attendees have agreed that the network will be a forum for debate and thought where municipalities emphasize those actions of municipal governance where cooperation and the common good are above competition and individual gain.
