Pedreguer approves different agreements but rejects dismissing the Civil Guard from the Casa Cuartel

January 27 from 2023 - 13: 03

The Pedreguer City Council, with the vote in favor of all the political groups except the abstention of the CUP, in the ordinary plenary session of January, held this past Thursday, ratified the appointment of the representatives of the Pedreguer City Council in the Comarcal Association of the Marina Alta (MACMA), as well as appointing the new
delegated and substitute in this entity to adjust to the new statutes.

The mayor, Sergi Ferrús Peris, and the Councilor for Culture, Ferran Lloret Morell, will remain as incumbents, and the new incumbent will be the Councilor for Youth, Noèlia Miralles Gilabert. It has also been decided to name substitute people, being the CUP spokesman, Lluís Castelló Costa, the Councilor for the socialist group Marian Costa Costa and the Councilor for Sports, José Vicente Cabrera Puigcerver.

CUP motion: Civil Guard Barracks

On the other hand, the plenary session has rejected the motion presented by the CUP for the change of use of the building of the Civil Guard barracks, since it has only had the vote in favor of the proposing group, with the abstention of the socialist group and the contrary vote of popular and municipal government.

The CUP proposed giving a social use, given the lack of spaces, to the municipal building that houses the Civil Guard barracks. The CUP proposed finalizing the transfer of the aforementioned building for use as the Civil Guard Barracks House, notifying the corresponding organizations so that they leave the building as soon as possible and start a participatory process to decide what other use it wants to give it in the future. building.

Faced with this question, from Compromís per Pedreguer they communicate that they do not support the motion presented by the CUP "because they do not agree with a participatory process that, from the outset, already selects who can participate and who cannot: it leaves out those people who consider that they would have The current use of the building should continue. In the case of beginning a participatory process, the first question would have to be: Do you agree that the municipal building located at Avenida Arquitecto Antoni Gilabert, 55, be used as the headquarters of the
Civil Guard?... or similar?

Compromís per Pedreguer has also stated that they do not agree at the time the motion is presented, since another meeting of spokespersons is pending to discuss the matter and study the proposal made by the Alicante command, regarding regularizing the assignment (as is done in other municipalities, such as Gata de Gorgos for example) and because, since 1976 (and before when another municipal building was used, the current health center) "nobody has been able to worry about the issue, until the current government team began to be interested in the terms of the transfer, and only now that, for other reasons, it is a recurring topic of social networks and debates in the street, is an attempt to obtain political gain, well can wait a few more months and avoid making this a purely electoral issue."

Regarding the explanatory part of the motion, from Compromís they have wanted to clarify what is called about organizations at the service of the Spanish government, arguing that, for example, the justice of the peace also occupies municipal offices, and "more at the service of the Spanish government than there is little justice... Shall we kick them out too or do we value the service that these institutions do at the service of the Spanish government to the people of our municipality?"

On the other hand, and related to this service: "Do we know what the consequences would be if we no longer had a staff of the Civil Guard in Pedreguer? What does our municipal security body think?"

Nor does the municipal government agree with the sentence that appears in the motion: "The current use of the building prevents the activity of musical groups in adjacent buildings." And they do not agree because they consider it false or, at least, misrepresented. On the one hand, what prevents this activity is the incorrect adaptation of the rehearsal space for that purpose (in this sense, not only has the city council searched for another more suitable place, but it is planned to adapt the old nursery to use as a room of testing); on the other hand, it is not the current use of the building that prevents this activity, but the complaint of a citizen who resides: "at any time", they say, "(there is a staff of civil guard or a residence of Tibetan monks there) , if a person (regardless of the trade they have) makes a complaint, it will follow its normal course".

From Compromís por Pedreguer they propose, in any case, to start, as of June 2023, a participatory process to decide if the citizens of Pedreguer want to allocate the municipal building located at Avenida Arquitecto Antoni Gilabert, 55, to the Civil Guard barracks. And, once this process is finished; if the result is favorable to maintain the use, regularize the inherited situation, updating by agreement and plenary agreement, the offer to the civil guard of the transfer of use of the aforementioned property. If the result is unfavorable; finalize the transfer of the aforementioned building for use as a Civil Guard Barracks House, notifying the corresponding agencies because they leave the building as soon as possible and start a participatory process to decide what other use is to be given to the building.
