The City Council of Ondara has promoted the execution of two important projects to improve municipal sports facilities. As announced by the Mayor of Ondara, José Ramiro, the Governing Board has agreed to request two grants from the Alicante Provincial Council.
The first to renew the artificial turf of the Vicent Zaragoza Municipal Sports Center. And the second, framed in the Plan + Deporte, to cover the glass of the small outdoor pool, located in the grounds of the Ondara Municipal Pool.
130.000 euros to change the football field grass
The renovation of the grass of the soccer field of Ondara is valued at 151.211,61 euros. The City Council has presented a request to the Provincial Council to finance the maximum of 85% (a total of 130.000 euros)This being the maximum amount of subsidy established for this municipality of 7.076 inhabitants. The consistory undertakes to assume the remaining amount.
The soccer field of the Vicent Zaragoza Municipal Sports Center has had artificial grass since 2011, but this is degraded and, for the city council, it is understood that it has reached the end of its useful life.
The solution, they explain from the town hall, involves the removal of the existing lawn after dismantling the goal equipment. Later the gutters will be opened and cleaned. Finally, the new grass will be installed, which will be laid with sand and rubber, and the equipment will be repositioned.
More than 50.000 euros to cover the outdoor pool
With regard to the Municipal Swimming Pool, Ondara presents to the Provincial Council a project to cover the outdoor swimming pool (the small one) of the Ondara Municipal Swimming Pool, which amounts to a budget of 64.803,96 euros. Ondara has submitted the application for the maximum provincial subsidy amounting to 50.107,52 euros, according to the bases for this municipality of 7.076 inhabitants.
The City Council of Ondara undertakes to assume the remaining amount. The project in question for which help is requested involves covering the basin of the small pool with polycarbonate and connecting it with a tunnel to the pool enclosure.
The project to close the outdoor pool is an action that was initially planned in the execution of the original project, since in order to get the maximum profitability from the facilities, it was essential to use this outdoor pool together with the indoor pool during all year round, and not just the two summer months, as is currently the case.
For various reasons, this originally planned closure did not take place. The purpose of covering this pool is directly linked to the heating of the water and the installation itself, since this is the only solution there is to be able to use it all year round. This action would allow to offer other activities that until now could not be carried out in this outdoor pool; so that the capacity of both users and activities of the Municipal Pool as a whole would be increased.
It is estimated that the cover of the outdoor pool could serve up to 50% more users, when transferring activities such as midwifery, aquagym, swimming for pregnant women, for children, etc. At the same time, other activities could be offered, such as Pilates, or rehabilitation, also increasing the capacity of the large pool.
