The City Council of Ondara has circumvented the historic rise in electricity rates nationwide thanks to the framework contract with the Alicante Provincial Council With a 100% Renewable Origin Guarantee.
In this way, Ondara and 138 other municipalities in the Alicante province are adhered to the provincial agreement with a fixed price that allows these electricity rates to be contained. This translates into savings of more than seven million euros for the municipalities.
The 100% renewable electricity supply contract will last until September 30, 2022
Thus, the public lighting and municipal buildings of Ondara are framed in this beneficial contract. For his part, the mayor of the town, José Ramiro, recalled that the "Technical report on the electric power supply of the City of Ondara" was approved at the Local Board on August 17, 2020.
In addition, the contract for the supply of 100% renewable electrical energy entered into force on October 1, 2020 and will last until September 30, 2022. In this way, the energy is distributed through 42 different supply points distributed by the entire municipality.
Finally, the local administration of the Ondara City Council has wanted to clarify that, despite not being affected by the rise in rates, the city council is not wasting energy or misusing it. The administration has stressed that several repairs are being made to the lighting and for this reason some streetlights have remained lit during the day in previous days.
