In the ordinary plenary session of the Ondara City Council, held yesterday, November 24, all the political groups (PSPV-Compromís Government Team, PP and Citizens) approved unanimously the proposal of the municipal groups of the Ondara City Council on the occasion of 25 November, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, which was read by Councilor Mar Chesa.
According to some of the data in the explanatory statement, “in Spain, since 2003, 1.165 women and 47 girls and boys have been murdered. Since 2009, almost 2 million complaints of gender violence have been filed and more than half a million protection orders."
According to data from the "Macro-survey on violence against women", 34,2% of women have suffered violence from their partners or ex-partners. 47,2% did not report or use public help services. No data on violence against women is unacceptable in a society that claims to be free, equal and fair. Gender violence is incompatible with a fully democratic society. Guaranteeing the freedom, security and life of women and protecting the victims is not an option, it is a democratic obligation. Gender violence challenges us and public administrations, including town halls, must combat it with all the means at our disposal.» For this reason, the plenary session of the Ondara City Council, as representation of the Ondara society, approved the proposal to Ratify the firm commitment of the Ondara City Council against gender violence, and in defense of women's rights, the eradication of any type of sexist violence and combat any denialist discourse and political positioning that denies gender violence or rejects public policies focused on its total eradication; Urge all competent public administrations to develop and comply with the measures that form the State Pact against Gender Violence; Urge to expedite the process of renewal and updating of the State Pact against Gender Violence that is beginning in the Congress of Deputies; Collaborate with civil society associations that fight against gender violence and work for the equality of men and women, and work to guarantee its correct financing, and Urge to expedite the process of renewal and updating of the Pacte Valencià against Gender Violence and macho.
anti fraud measures
In other items on the agenda, in plenary session the Anti-Fraud Measures Plan was approved that allows the City Council to guarantee and declare that, in its respective field of action, the corresponding funds have been used in accordance with the applicable regulations, in in particular, with regard to the prevention, detection and correction of fraud, corruption and conflicts of interest.
The Anti-Fraud Measures Plan includes a series of measures and procedures structured around the four key elements of the anti-fraud cycle: prevention, detection, correction and harassment. This proposal, as explained by the Mayor, José Ramiro, was raised in full as a requirement to access European funds. Its approval was unanimous among all the municipal groups (PSPV-Compromís Government Team, PP and Ciutadans).
SAREB housing
The plenary session also approved the motion of the FVMP on the "Launch of SAREB Housing", which was read by the Councilor for Social Services, Mª Carmen Velázquez.
In this motion, it was agreed, among other points, to urge the Government to immediately transfer or any other title that enables the use management of all SAREB homes in the regional public park, to allocate them to social or affordable rental with the consequent prohibition of its sale to “empty” funds and enable the legal mechanisms that make it possible to indefinitely suspend eviction proceedings for people who are in a situation of vulnerability or in affordable rents, property of the SAREB, without a residential alternative, with the aim that the social services can offer solutions, among other actions, as well as urging the Council of the Generalitat to follow up on the cases of launching or judicial demand for SAREB housing for the promotion of the improvement of the protocols of regularization and renewal of rents, in which both the regional administration and important social organizations participate plicated.
This point was voted in favor by the PSPV-Compromís, PP Government Team, and against by Ciutadans. The Ciutadans spokesman, Joan Costa, argued the vote against him, indicating that if rental prices are controlled, rental housing is lost due to the law of supply and demand; also because the tenants would drop, as rent is no longer an investment; He considered that differences would be created in the rental market and "neighborhoods", so his vote was negative.
Other approvals
Within the agenda, a extrajudicial recognition of credits, and a modification and transfer of credits to face the payment of bank commissions, which are for having money in the bank of the City Council; a point that went ahead with the vote against Ciutadans.
On the other hand, in reports from the Departments, the Councilor for Sports and Education, Mar Chesa, informed of the transportation scholarships for students that they have once again been summoned by the City Council; also the recognition that CEIP Sanchis Guarner has achieved, which has obtained the "Healthy Life Seal" Quality Distinction issued by the Ministry of Education; and the next celebration of the San Silvestre Solidarity Race on December 29.
The Mayor, José Ramiro, in his reports, announced that the campaign of Consumer Bonds in the local Ondara trade it will be repeated again with trade bonds for Christmas; and also reported that work has already begun to renew the drinking water network in the district of Pamis.
To questions from the opposition (made by Jaume Femenia, from the PP) about the state of the projects of the Day Center and the Bar of the Plaza de Toros, José Ramiro explained that in the case of the Day Center they are awaiting authorization from the Ministry, and that the City Council already has the budgets for all the necessary endowments in the center .
Regarding the project of the Plaza de Toros Bar, he reported that it was deserted due to economic issues, and that it must be modified, approved by the Governing Board and put out to tender again. He also reported that this year the IVACE subsidy of 400.000 euros will have to be waived for improvements in the industrial estates, because the companies could not aspire to carry out the works, for not being able to meet the deadlines for having the works completed before 31 December 2022. The intention is to reapply for aid in the next financial year to continue the project.
