Ondara opens the Molí Coví recreational area to the public for the first time during Easter

21 March 2024 - 14: 46

The mayor of Ondara, José Ramiro, accompanied by the councilor for Agriculture, Environment, Municipal Area and Water Resources, Miguel Gomis, as well as municipal technicians, has visited the works in the Molí Coví recreational area. During the inspection, it was announced that this open-air space at Molí Coví will open to the public for the first time during the upcoming Easter holidays.

Specifically, the opening is scheduled for Sunday, March 31 and Monday, April 1 (Easter Sunday and Monday); and on Saturday 6, Sunday 7 and Monday 8 April (Sant Vicent); from 09:00 a.m. to 21:00 p.m. This will allow the citizens of Ondara to enjoy a few days of recreation in this new recreational area, which has wooded spaces, picnic areas and health services next to the old mill.

However, it is important to note that the trees in the area are still young, some newly planted, so they do not provide a great deal of shade, something to consider when visiting during the central hours of the day.

To access the recreational area, it is noted that you cannot arrive by car, since there are no parking areas available on site. Therefore, it is recommended to park in one of the parking lots at the northern exit of Ondara in the direction of Verger (Naciones sin Estado street) and walk along the Assagador del Molí Coví path, cross Adolfo Suárez avenue and continue crossing the bed of the Girona River, which has a practicable ford to cross when the river does not carry water, and directly along the promenade you reach the recreational area of the mill, with a 10-minute walk. Another option is to walk along the road that leads to Beniarbeig, entering through the Molí Coví gate, (at the turnoff towards Segària Park, on the opposite side of the road).

It is noted that the Molí Coví recreational area is being rehabilitated by the Municipal Brigade and the participants in the Employment Workshop "Ondara we bet on your future X" in the forestry specialty. The Ondara City Council is rehabilitating the Molí Coví building (Asset of Local Relevance) with the intention of restoring the facilities and enabling them as a visitable space; thus valuing the possibility of developing a cultural project in its facilities in the future. The first step was to rehabilitate the roof; and renew the interior and exterior facades. Currently, the cleaning and conditioning of its green area is being completed, to enable the Molí Coví Fluvial Park with the intention of converting the plot into a wooded and visitable space.
