The great local athletics festival returns to Ondara with the 23rd edition of the Ondara Popular Race (scoring test of the Circuit a Peu Marina Alta) that will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023, organized by the Ondara Athletics Club and the Department of Sports of the City council of Ondara.
The XXIII Popular Race of Ondara has been presented this morning by the Councilor for Sport, Mar Chesa and by the
representatives of the Ondara Athletics Club, its president Miguel Moreno, Mª José Català and Juan Ginestar. From the organization, the participation of some 1.300 runners in the adult test is expected. In addition, the attendance of some 500 children who will participate in the lower category races is expected.
The Ondara race is a benchmark in the regional sports field and one of the most important sporting events held in the town. The mayor of Sports has thanked the sponsors, Civil Protection, the Local Police, Somesport, and above all the Ondara Athletics Club for organizing the event for their support.
Adult registrations (those who are not already registered in the Circuit a Peu Marina Alta) can be made from Friday May 19 on the somesport website. And for the boys and girls of Ondara, a circular will be distributed in the schools, so that they sign up, although they can also register through the collaborating entity's website.
The test will consist of a 10-kilometre route, with the same itinerary as in the previous 2022 edition, starting from Doctor Fleming Avenue and finishing at General Bosch street, next to the Prado. The start of the adult race will be at 19:00 p.m.
Before, from 16:30 p.m., the races of the lower categories will be held: prebarrufets, barrufets, prebenjamines, benjamines, fry, children and cadets (female and male). All the boys and girls registered in the prebarrufets, barrufets and prebenjamines category tests will obtain a medal for their participation. Starting with the youngest category, trophies will be awarded to the winners of each category.
